When I’m not making art I like to make stuff in the kitchen! Today I made#Sofrito!
Growing up both my parents loved cooking and would make sofrito as a key cooking base ingredient for our beloved rice and beans and so many other dishes. The flavor is so beyond yummy! Also when I was younger my little sisters and I used to film pretend cooking shows this is also my ode to goofball cooking show days of old!
Here is what you will need:
2 packs Aji Dulce Peppers
10 packs of Culantro
1/2 pint of Garlic
5 Green Peppers
4 Yellow onions
a bundle of cilantro
6 Tomato's
YIELD: about 4 medium plastic cooking storage containers.
Wash and chop up all ingredients to prep for putting into the blender. *See in the photos above I cut the stems off the culantro as well as quarter the onion and peppers. Puree all ingredients together then transfer to mixing bowl where you can whisk one more final stirring before storing in container where you can keep in the fridge for cooking or freeze for several months!
Optional: You can add additional seasonings including home made Sazon see recipe for that below and pork/ham flavor cubes during this blending process as well as these other ingredients you can flavor your sofrito with some cumin, olive oil capers olives and salt. It's up to you to feel out the flavor!
Also during all this my cat was of no help at all! :P
