Angie Mason was born on May 22,1973 in Northern New Jersey, but was uprooted quite often during her younger years, growing up all over New Jersey and in other places such as Puerto Rico and Florida. She received her B.F.A. in 1997 from Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Angie's childhood played a key role in her artistic development. Being isolated as an introverted child she took solace in the creation of characters and imaginary worlds. This would later be the main source that her artwork thrives on. Her characters are extensions of the human condition; Monstrous beings that are sad, ugly, losers who have a longing and desire for something better mixed with a hint of innocence there is an air of hope to her work. Her characters and worlds are both horrific and humorous , yet speaks of what it means to be human.

In Mason's paintings she creates a vibrant visual playground where her melancholy menagerie of characters and worlds exist. It is a disturbing world full of nonsensical fluff, failed pipe dreams and beautiful imperfections. Angie's work is a funny, whimsical, dark and tragic view at the wonderful mess of life.

Her works capture subtle life twists weaving them together to form a patchwork quilt of emotions. Her sources of influence reflect the breadth of her experience, ranging from her disjointed upbringing to traveling, dreams, failure and illness. These influences cause a balance of light and dark that intermingle in her work, creating a fairy tale all its own.

Currently, Angie is living in a spooky old house in Northern, New Jersey with her husband Lyle, and their very bad kitty Mr. Nervil NerverBurger. Her work has been exhibited all over the world in such places as Los Angeles,New York City, Tokyo, Paris London, and Berlin. You can be sure to find Angie and her cat in her studio making mischief, painting, drawing or simply just daydreaming.

Born in Northern New Jersey but uprooted quite often during her younger years, Angie Mason grew up all over New Jersey and other places such as Puerto Rico and Florida. She received her B.F.A. in 1997 from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Mason's works are exhibited throughout the United States and Internationally in such places as Berlin, London, Tokyo and Paris.

A chaotic disjointed upbringing helped form her visual imagination and sensibilities at an early age. Angie's works are strong in color and heavy in character concepts. Other varied influences in her work range from such things as humor, relationships, dreams, love, failure and illness. There is a balance of light and dark that intermingle in her work creating a visual playground bringing to life quirky characters that are beautifully rendered yet with a painterly hand gives them an innocent raw touch.

Within the Artwork of Angie Mason one finds a realm dark & wonderful where her saturnine creatures exist with their touching sad yet hysterical scenarios. These seemingly cute characters are in fact twisted, moody bruised souls. They are monstrous beings that are sad, ugly, losers who have a longing and desire for something better combined with a hint of innocence there is an air of hope in Mason's work. You are sure to find Angie making characters and worlds that are both horrific and humorous, yet speaks of what it means to be human. Her melancholy menagerie of characters and worlds are a funny, whimsical, dark and tragic view at the wonderful mess of life.

Let Rotted Teeth Rot ... Viva la Rot! Recently I was so super happy to hear that the very talented actress and writer Amber Tamblyn wanted some Rotten Tooth Earrings of her own...she sent me a photo of her wearing her pair of my darling grotesque Rotten Tooth Earrings ! Her ears are a perfect home for them even though that tooth's face is sad I KNOW how happy he is to be hanging there!

I have a bunch of additional Rotten Tooth Earrings I will be adding to the Angie Mason Art Shop but there are still some left that are currently up right now if you want a pair of your own.
